Notebook Reviews: BAD BOYS

Michael Bay – 1995.

3 out of 5 stars

The irascible Michael Bay makes his feature-length directing debut with Bad Boys. This buddy action pic is stylish and enjoyable and Will Smith and Martin Lawrence make an engaging double act.

This Simpson/Bruckheimer production doesn’t quite reach the heights of something like Lethal Weapon or Beverly Hills Cop, but Bad Boys has enough witty one-liners and kinetic action sequences to make it well worth your time.

Bad Boys also gets extra points for a great turn by Joe Pantoliano and a pulsing score from Mark Mancina.
