The early buzz on Aaron Sorkin’s The Trial of the Chicago 7 is that it is off-the-chart great. At the minute it looks like the big awards contender for the year. The first teaser for the Netflix film dropped last week – and now the second has arrived.
What was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest—including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale—were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.
TheNetflix film stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne and Mark Rylance. It drops on 16 October 2020.
