Names Is For Tombstones, Baby

The great Yaphet Kotto has passed away at the age of 81. The American actor was a powerful supporting player, injecting his presence into every film and television in which he appeared.

Stand-out film roles include Live And Let Die (1973), Blue Collar (1978) Alien (1979), The Running Man (1987) and Midnight Run (1988) – amongst many others. Kotto also had a starring role in the seminal television series, Homicide: Life on the Street which ran from 1993 to 1999.

Kotto’s turn as Dr. Kananga/Mr. Big in Roger Moore‘s first James Bond movie, Live and Let Die is a franchise stand-out. Kotto’s performance is one of the great villain turns in the series. Is it dated? Yes, but that doesn’t stop it from being a brilliant piece of acting in one of the finest James Bond films.
