It looks like Sony Pictures has their new Lisbeth Salander.
Variety is reporting that Claire Foy (The Crown) has been offered the role of Salander in The Girl in the Spider’s Web, the studio’s sequel/reboot of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo franchise. However, Foy is mulling over a few other options (including Damien Chazelle’s First Man) so she’s far from a lock in the role. Rooney Mara previously played the part in David Fincher’s 2011 film opposite Daniel Craig’s Mikael Blomkvist. It’ll be interesting to see who replaces Craig.
Fede Alvarez directs the film which he co-wrote with Steven Knight and Jay Basu (based on the novel by David Lagercrantz).
The Girl in the Spider’s Web opens on 19 October 2018.
