Christopher Nolan’s Swiss Watch
As a director, Christopher Nolan has had a pretty impressive cinematic run: Following (1998) Memento (2000) Insomnia (2002) Batman Begins (2005) The Prestige (2006) The Dark Knight (2008) Inception (2010) The Dark Knight Rises (2012), Interstellar (2014), Dunkirk (201) and now Tenet (2020).
Dunkirk, Nolan’s WWII thriller is Swiss watch of a movie. It’s a well composed piece which will keep you on edge throughout its tight 107 minute running time.
The cast deliver (Tom Hardy is particularly impressive considering his face is covered for the duration) but Hans Zimmer is the star of the show with yet another stunning musical score. This is a classically made epic which managed to discover an audience despite its artistic stylings.
The $100 million budgeted film connected with audiences, grossing $189.7 million at the US box office and $337.2 million in other countries for a $526.9 global total.
