Forget Christopher Nolan, it looks like only three directors have made the shortlist for the next James Bond adventure. Deadline is reporting that Yann Demange, Denis Villenueve and David Mackenzie have met with EON Productions to discuss helming the next 007 adventure, which is set to star Daniel Craig.
Demange directed ’71, the Jack O’Connell starring thriller, while he’s currently working on White Boy Rick with Matthew McConaughey. Villenueve is currently wrapping up work on Blade Runner 2049, while Mackenzie is hot-off the successful Oscar nominated Hell or High Water.
They all fit the Bond mould – but I think that Villenueve might be too close to being an auteur to direct a Bond movie. Having said that, Sam Mendes wasn’t exactly a journeyman helmer when he made Skyfall. I think we’ll know more when Daniel Craig and Barbara Broccoli make their decision.
