Blu-ray Review: J-P Valkeapää’s Darkly Comic DOGS DON’T WEAR PANTS
Writer and and director J-P Valkeapää’s Dogs Don’t Wear Pants is a darkly comic look at life, love and S&M. It follows an emotionally detached surgeon named Juha (Pekka Strang) who gets caught-up in a twisted relationship with a dominatrix named Mona (Krista Kosonon).
Juha is still reeling from the death of his wife year before, but he finds release when Mona suffocates him to the point of near death. It’s only at the point of suffocation that Juha can feel emotion and glimpse what he believes to be his wife in the afterlife.
Valkeapää’s film might sound twisted, but there’s plenty of heart and (dark) humour within this Finnish drama.
