Benedict Cumberbatch Is A ROGUE MALE

Movies In Focus first read Geoffrey Household’s Rogue Male a couple of years ago after receiving it as a gift from a well read friend. The 1939 novel is a tight and taught tale about an English gent proving that he can assassinate a European dictator, however things don’t go to plan and he’s forced to go on the run.

Household’s book is a classy piece and I’ll be interested to see what Benedict Cumberbatch does with the material when he stars-in and produces a new film adaptation (written by Michael Lesslie). I’m no Cumberbatch fan, but he’s a good fit for this (a rich aristocratic Brit). It was previously adapted by Fritz Lang in 1941 and Peter O’Toole starred in a 1976 TV version.
