OSCARS 2015: A Full List Of Nominations; BIRDMAN Flies High
The Academy Awards (aka the Oscars) nominations have been announced and it’s fantastic to see Michael Keaton score a nod for Best Actor. It was never in doubt of course, as Keaton has been the frontrunner for some time due to his sterling work in Birdman.
Bradley Cooper has his third nomination in as many years for Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper (nominated for Best Picture – but not director). Keaton’s main competition is Eddie Redmayne for his turn as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything but this is his to lose come Sunday 22 February.
Surprises include David Fincher’s not unwelcome directing nomination for Gone Girl and that lack of Animated Feature love for rather good The Lego Movie.
It’s also worth noting that this year sees Meryl Streep’s 19th acting nomination.
