Behind The Scenes: Harrison Ford On The Set Of Peter Weir’s WITNESS
It’s highly likely that Harrison Ford delivered the performance of his career in Peter Weir‘s Witness. Ford was nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his role in the dramatic thriller – his only ever nomination.
The 1985 film sees Ford play John Book, a Philadelphia detective tasked with protecting a young Amish (Lukas Haas) after he witnesses a murder. Weir’s film plays out in many layers – as a thriller, a drama, a romance and a sort of neo-western.
Kelly McGillis is also strong as the Amish mother, while Danny Glover, Alexander Godunov and Viggo Mortensen also have small roles in the film.
Witness grossed over $68 million at the US box office in 1985.
