Behind The Scenes: George R.R. Martin & Peter Dinklage On The Set Of GAME OF THRONES
Writer/Producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss managed the near impossible when they brought George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire book series to the small screen back in 2011. Stunning production values and epic locations gave Game of Thrones a look that was comparable to the great big screen Hollywood epics. The impressive visuals were one thing, but Game of Thrones also arrived with great casting and incredibly strong writing.
The epic show also had an epic cast throughout its eight seasons. Actors who made an appearance include Sean Bean, Peter Dinklage, Charles Dance, Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Jason Momoa, Maisie Williams, Emilia Clarke, Mark Addy, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Michiel Huisman, Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, Pedro Pascal, Gwendoline Christie and Carice Van Houten.
Game of Thrones managed to become a fantasy show that people who didn’t like fantasy watched and enjoyed. The show had am epic quality HBO invested a tremendous amount of time and money to ensure high production values. Shot across the globe in locations such as Ireland, Croatia and Malta, Game of Thrones was a huge logistical undertaking. However, the core of the show was an ever evolving cast and unpredictable story-lines which kept viewers coming back season after season.
Benioff and Weiss’ show became a full-blown cultural phenomenon and managed to capture the hearts and minds of a diverse range of people. The eighth and final season of Game of Throne met with a mixed response from fans and many were unhappy with how the show ended. But if there’s one thing we know – it’s that you can’t please everyone!
