ARMY OF THIEVES Trailer: We Don’t Need A Prequel To Zack Snyder’s Army Of The Dead
We don’t really need a prequel to Army Of The Dead. Zack Snyder‘s film was a strangely pedestrian affair considering he was given $70 million and carte blanche to make it. It’s ultimately just another zombie movie with little originality and and an exorbitant running-time to pad things out. Read the Movies In Focus review.
We’re now getting a prequel in the shape of Army Of Thieves. The film sees Matthias Schweighöfer‘s German safecracker Ludwig Dieter getting involved in a series of heists across Europe. Admittedly, Schweighöfer was one of the highlights of Snyder’s film – and he also directs this pic which should have less focus on zombies and more focus on cracking safes. He’s joined on his quest by Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O. Fee, Guz Khan and Jonathan Cohen. Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder produce.
To be fair – this trailer looks okay – and who knows – Army Of Thieves might even be good – we’ll find out when it hits Netflix later this year.
The synopsis:
In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.
