Anchor Bay & Meyers Entertainment Score Distribution For MIMESIS: NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
Movies In Focus was a big fan of director Douglas Schulze’s Mimesis (now re-titled Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead) and the film received great buzz on the festival circuit (read my review). The horror film has now been picked up for distribution in the US and Canada by Anchor Bay Entertainment, while Meyers Entertainment will distribute the film in other territories.
Mimesis riffs on Night of the Living Dead (as the new title suggests), and it uses the film (which is in the public domain) to offer horror fans thrills – this is what I had to say in my review: “Mimesis is an interesting entry into the pantheon of low-budget horror films. The film tips its hat to a classic film, while not tarnishing its memory, which is no easy feat. Schulze has an eye (and an ear) for what makes a good horror movie – and that really needs to be applauded.”
Schulze hopes that Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead will kick start a franchise (read an interview with him), using other public domain features, and work has already started on Mimesis 2, something which can only be a good thing,
