A Lack Of Resonance In The Digital World

There’s been too much going on in 2020 for movies to sink-in. People have been watching on autopilot anything with weight or heft has been brushed away by COVID (along with everything it brought) and Trump in the US and Brexit in the UK.

It’s much too easy to move on to the next film when streaming, forgetting what you just watched and ignoring the all-important post-watch discussion). The only piece of entertainment with resonating cultural impact in the last year has been Tiger King. Tenet had a shot, but nobody really understood it and few saw it on the big screen (but it is good, despite all that).

Maybe in the future 2020 will be discovered as a year of forgotten classics – because there have been good movies this year (Mangrove, One Night In Miami).
