This summer Tom Cruise is back as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Cruise once again pushes himself to the limit on the film, performing all kinds of impossible stunts – just look at that bike jump! If there’s one film to see on the big screen this summer, it’s this first part of Dead Reckoning.
We’ve seen Cruise push the action envelope with the last few Mission:Impossible movies and this tangible filmmaking ethos ultimately led to the massive success of last year’s Top Gun: Maverick. There’s now a Tom Cruise/Christopher McQuarrie aesthetic that fits right into the auteur theory.
The seventh and allegedly penultimate instalment in the Mission: Impossible film franchise, Dead Reckoning once again sees Cruise’s super-spy save in the world. Once again written (along with Erik Jendresen) and directed by McQuarrie, the stunt filled extravaganza is set to hit the big screen on 11th July, 2023.
The cast of Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One also includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Frederick Schmidt, Charles Parnell, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma and Mark Gatiss.
The synopsis:
In Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins.
