Trailer And Poster For Adaptation Of Thomas Hardy’s FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD With Carey Mulligan

Moor-ish, is a phrase you could use to describe this latest adaptation of Thomas Hardy’s Far From The Madding Crowd.

Carey Mulligan, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Sheen and Tom Sturridge star in this film which opens in the UK this spring. It remains to be seen if this matches the famed 1967 film starring Julie Christie and Terence Stamp – but this cast makes it worth catching. Mrs Movies in Focus will be very pleased.

FYI – I hate when I see this called ‘Far From The Maddening Crowd‘. It really irks me.

Here’s the official synopsis:

‘Based on the literary classic by Thomas Hardy, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor. This timeless story of Bathsheba’s choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love – as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.’
