Tom Holland & Timothée Chalamet Up For The Young WILLY WONKA Role In A Movie We Don’t Need

After news broke that Warner Bros would release a totally unnecessary prequel to Charlie And The Chocolate Factory comes world that Tom Holland and Timothée Chalamet are in the frame for the role.

The film (set to be directed by Paddington helmer Paul King) which will focus on the life of a young Willy Wonka is set to be released on 17 March 2022. We can get a sense of what type of movie this will be now that the names of Holland and Chalamet have been mentioned. He’ll be a wide-eyed youth who marvels at the world before a life-changing event(s) turn him into the quirky and mysterious confectioner.

You can see why these actors might do the movie. Holland is 25 and at some point will age-out of his Spider-Man role, while Chamalet (24) has never anchored a hit movie (Dune is a huge gamble). A Wonka franchise (if it’s successful) would give them career leverage.

I’ll say it again – they should forget about doing a prequel and bring Johnny Depp back for a sequel to 2005’s Charlie And the Chocolate Factory. That would show bravery and originality.
