The Train Fight Between Sean Connery & Robert Shaw In FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE Still Packs A Punch
The now infamous train fight between Sean Connery and Robert Shaw in From Russia With Love is often regarded as one of the best in cinema – and rightly so. The close-quarters sequence is tense, brutal and it packs a literal punch. Both Connery and Shaw were in peak physical condition and it shows.
From Russia With Love was the second James Bond adventure and the 1963 film grossed $24.8 million at the US box office and $78.9 million globally – a stunning number.
Looking back at the film today, the Ian Fleming adaptation is more an espionage-thriller than an action pic. Terence Young’s film is a classy affair, similar in tone to Alfred Hitchcock’s North By Northwest.
