See Nightcrawler In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE; The End Of X-Men Movies As We Know Them?
Bryan Singer has unveiled the first look at Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler in X-Men: Apocalypse. Much like the recent Archangel image release, this sees a new actor slip into the mutant role. Alan Cumming played Nightcrawler in 2003’s X2.
The word on the street is that this is Singer’s last X-Men movie and that the franchise as we know it will be no more. Hugh Jackman has implied that Wolverine 3 will be his last turn as the famed mutant, while Jennifer Lawrence no longer needs franchise movies after scoring an Oscar and James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender will be just fine without the Marvel universe. 20th Century Fox needs to hold on to the franchise, so it’ll be interesting to see if it totally recast the series or spins it off in a new direction.
I’d bet on the former.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens in 2016.
