Screen Actor John Hurt Dies

John Hurt has shuffled-off into that great acting workshop on the sky. The distinguished actor was probably best known for his work in David Lynch’s The Elephant Man and Alien but he had a tremendous body of work behind him. He starred in countless films and television shows (too many to mention), roles small and large and brought a certain amount of grizzled sophistication to anything he played.

Hurt wasn’t a ‘leading man’, he was a character actor who filled out a wide variety roles and added a certain amount of class. He suffered cancer in recent years, but still kept working until the end. John Hurt was 77 years old.
