Peyton Reed To Direct ANT-MAN; Michael Douglas Is Disappointed

And so the Ant-Man saga draws to a close. Peyton Reed has now snagged the directing gig, replacing Edgar Wright who dropped out of the movie following a decade of development. Anchorman helmer Adam McKay has also come onboard to spruce-up the script.

Apparently it was the script that caused Wright to jump ship – Marvel (and/or Disney) wanted to neuter Wright’s vision. All this has even the most ardent Marvel supporters up in ams. Reed has a string of television credits to his name and he directed the rather decent Down With Love – he was also attached to direct The Fantastic Four way back when.

Comedy seems to be the order of the day. It appears that not everyone is happy – this is what Michael Douglas had to say:

“I was very disappointed. I am a big fan of his movies. It’s a very disappointing situation. Happened very late in the game. I don’t think anybody’s quite recovered. My heart goes out to Edgar. He’s been involved  with the project for a long time. But he’s talented enough that you’ll be hearing a whole lot from him and I’m sure with a little vengeance”.
