Notebook Reviews: TIN CUP

4 out of 5 stars

Ron Shelton – 1996

Director Ron Shelton delivers a great sporting comedy with Tin Cup. The film features a wonderful turn by Kevin Costner – who is at his most likeable and charismatic. Shelton’s film has an incredible supporting cast which includes fantastic work by Rene RussoCheech Marin and Don Johnson (the later pair would go on to do Nash Bridges together).

Admittedly, Tin Cup is a little heavy on the golfing details for the initiated, but this is still first-rate stuff. It’s the second great sporting film from Shelton and Costner following Bull Durham. The soundtrack is great too!
