Notebook Reviews: THE LAST BOY SCOUT
Tony Scott – 1991
Tony Scott‘s The Last Boy Scout is a pure joy to watch. It’s a top-notch action-thriller featuring a firecracker of a script from Shane Black.
Bruce Willis is at his wisecracking best and he makes a great pairing with Damon Wayans. The film is expertly directed by Scott and it features all of his trademark visual flourishes – orange filters, slow motion shoot-outs and smokey interiors.
The language and violence might be excessive, but it adds to the roughness of the piece and it’s necessary for this particular tale. The only problem with The Last Boy Scout is that they never made a sequel!
