Steve Miner – 1999
Lake Placid is an enjoyable enough little creature feature with a good cast (Bill Pullman, Bridget Fonda, Oliver Platt, Brendan Gleeson) and some great special effects. Everyone seems to be having a good time in Steve Miner‘s horror/comedy and David E. Kelly‘s script throws them some good lines.
Lake Placid lacks a real sense of danger or thrills and the short running time (82 minutes) seems to indicate a hatchet job somewhere in the editing room. It’s not high art, but it does what it says on the tin.
