Joel Schumacher – 1999

Flawless is one of Joel Schumacher‘s best films and it features wonderful performances from both Robert De Niro and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Schumacher’s film is as thought-provoking as it is funny and it manages to balance the the comedy and drama well. When it’s funny, it’s a hoot and Hoffman shows his credentials as a fine comedian. De Niro also impresses, giving his character a lot of depth and you can sympathise with his plight. Most of all this is Schumacher’s show and he writes and directs with aplomb. Excellent.
