Not To Be Overlooked: Trailer For Stephen King Adaptation DOCTOR SLEEP

The Shining is one of the great Stephen King books and Stanley Kubrick’s film is one of the finest adaptations of a King novel – even though it’s not a true adaptation of the book. Doctor Sleep, the follow-up novel to The Shining is an interesting follow-up, which is very different from King’s 1977 book . It follows a grown-up Danny Torrence as he struggles to come to terms with what happened in the Overlook Hotel when he was a child – and to make matters worse he has to battle a team of psychic vampires.  Read the Movies In Focus book review of Doctor Sleep.

Anyway, that’s just a round-about way of me introducing the trailer for Mike Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep. The film stars Ewan McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson and it captures the attention because of the moments that Flanagan has recreated from Kubrick’s The Shining. Interestingly (but not surprisingly), those are the most visually striking shots from the trailer.

This has my curiosity.

Doctor Sleep opens on 31 October 2019.
