The movies might be getting a little smaller but Nicolas Cage is still delivering those big, bold performances. The next one will be in director Rob King’s The Humanity Bureau, a new action/sci-fi film written by Dave Schultz.

Here’s the dope from Deadline:

Sarah Lind, Jakob Davies and Hugh Dillon co-star in the pic, which is set in the year 2030 when global warming has wreaked havoc in parts of the American Midwest. In its attempt to take hold of the economic recession, a government agency called The Humanity Bureau exiles members of society deemed unproductive and banishes them to a colony known as New Eden. An ambitious and impartial caseworker (Cage) investigates a case appealed by a single mother (Lind) and her son (Davies). Knowing the unjust fate of the innocent boy, Kross sets off to save their lives and expose the truth about The Humanity Bureau’s secrets once.

Sounds like a curious one – if it can avoid cliche. At the very least, Cage will make it watchable.

Movies in Focus will keep you posted on this.
