New Trailer For James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD – Expect The Usual Divisive Rants
Here’s the latest trailer for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. This sequel/reboot appears less generic (and brighter) than the David Ayer directed 2016 film and it looks to up the joke quota – but I get the feeling this is still going to be a divisive film – you can already hear the haters.
Expect rants about DC v Marvel, releasing the Ayer cut – as well as having Zack Snyder restoring the Snyder-verse – pretty much everything we’ve heard over the last near decade. You know how this is going to shake-out, because everyone is right and everyone else is wrong. These things are just movies – or corporate product to be exact – they’re not life or death. We’ve just been led to believe that they mean something to us. They shouldn’t. Just enjoy them (or don’t) for what they are – entertainment.
The cast is impressive (see below) – but you can tell from the trailer who the dead meat is.
Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Peter Capaldi, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Alice Braga, Pete Davidson, Joaquín Cosio, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Nathan Fillion, Steve Agee, Sean Gunn, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Jennifer Holland, Tinashe Kajese, Sylvester Stallone, and Viola Davis.
The Suicide Squad hits cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 20 July 2021 and in the US on HBO Max on 6 August 2021.
The synopsis:
Welcome to hell—a.k.a. Belle Reve, the prison with the highest mortality rate in the US of A. Where the worst Super-Villains are kept and where they will do anything to get out—even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Today’s do-or-die assignment? Assemble a collection of cons, including Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, Javelin and everyone’s favorite psycho, Harley Quinn. Then arm them heavily and drop them (literally) on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese. Trekking through a jungle teeming with militant adversaries and guerrilla forces at every turn, the Squad is on a search-and-destroy mission with only Colonel Rick Flag on the ground to make them behave…and Amanda Waller’s government techies in their ears, tracking their every movement. And as always, one wrong move and they’re dead (whether at the hands of their opponents, a teammate, or Waller herself). If anyone’s laying down bets, the smart money is against them—all of them.
