Movies In Focus Makes Peace With The ROBOCOP Remake; New Poster
I’ve made my peace with remakes. They’re going to exist. We will always have the original film to re-watch, enjoying it like the company of an old friend. We should pick a cinematic fight we can win.
I do wonder what’s going to happen in 20 or 30 years, when they start remaking the remakes, or going back to the originals for yet another go-around. We’ll probably be digitally inserting ourselves into our favourite movies by that time anyway, so we won’t care. It’s hard to be annoyed by another remake of Scarface when you are Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing (in 3D).
The RoboCop remake is coming whether you like it or not – besides it’s not like the original 1987 movie was tarnished by lacklustre sequels, television spin-offs or cartoons.
RoboCop, starring Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish and Samuel L Jackson is released on February 7th 2014.
