Kurt Russell To Star In FAST & FURIOUS 7; Now I’ll Have To Watch It
I have never watched a Fast And Furious movie. I came close with the first movie on video – or maybe it was DVD – when I caught the first five or ten minutes. However, I turned it off to watch the making of The Phantom Menace. That’s how I roll. I never caught up with the franchise again, despite it going from strength to strength at the box office (well, after it looked like the series was on the wane). The latest instalment has scored over $786 million globally. It looks like my abstention is going to stop with the news that Kurt Russell is going to snag a part in Fast And Furious 7.
Kurt Russell is a great actor. He’s a man suited to action roles as well as everyman parts, but he’s been keeping a low profile in recent years (apparently turning down The Expendables). Fast And Furious 7 will be his biggest movie since Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof (I hope it doesn’t mean that Bone Tomahawk has been scratched).
Presumably Russell’s role is the bad-guy one that Denzel Washington turned down. It’s safe to assume that the part calls for a grizzled badass. That’s Kurt Russell.
Fast And Furious 7 (or whatever combination they decide to go for) opens July 11, 2014.
