Affleck is currently working on the script with Geoff Johns, DC Comics’ chief creative officer, and it looks like a draft could be turned-in by the end of the summer. The plan is to shoot after Affleck helms the long gestating Live By Night, a film that Affleck and Warner Bros delayed so the actor could slip into the cowl for Batman V Superman.
According to Deadline ‘the plot would reflect the Batman character that emerges after Batman V Superman and Justice League’. Although I presume the events of Suicide Squad may impact the character too.
It looks like other DC Comics movies might have to move out of the way so that Warner Bros can capitalise on this momentum for Batman – after all the writer-director-star is one of the studio’s prized commodities, while, Johns has written comics for Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, The Flash and Superman, while scripting Smallville, Arrow, The Flash and the new Supergirl series. That’s a lot of talent.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25 2015 and Justice League opens November 17 2017.
