New Poster George Clooney’s THE TENDER BAR Starring Ben Affleck

Here’s the latest piece of artwork for Amazon Studio’s forthcoming drama, The Tender Bar. The film sees George Clooney and Ben Affleck reunite for the first time following the success of 2012’s ArgoAffleck directed and starred-in that ’70s-set thriller while Clooney produced – this time around Clooney directs and produces while Affleck stars.

Based on J.R. Moehringer’s Pulitzer Prize winning memoir of the same name, The Tender Bar was adapted for the screen by William Monahan. Early reviews for the film have been strong and there’s plenty of awards buzz around Ben Affleck’s performance.

The Tender Bar is must-see material from a Movies In Focus perspective. George Clooney is a smart director and Ben Affleck a great leading man – and this seems to have enough heart to make it something special.  Additionally, the film also features some tracks by the great Jackson Browne

Amazon Studios will release The Tender Bar in select cinemas on 17 December 2021, before the film makes its global debut on Amazon Prime Video 7 January 2022. The coming of age drama stars Affleck, Tye Sheridan, Christopher Lloyd, Lily Rabe and Daniel Ranieri.

The Synopsis:

The Tender Bar tells the story of J.R. (Sheridan), a fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender, his Uncle Charlie (Affleck), is the sharpest and most colorful of an assortment of quirky and demonstrative father figures. As the boy’s determined mother (Rabe) struggles to provide her son with opportunities denied to her — and leave the dilapidated home of her outrageous if begrudgingly supportive father (Christopher Lloyd) — J.R. begins to gamely, if not always gracefully, pursue his romantic and professional dreams — with one foot persistently placed in Uncle Charlie’s bar.  The Tender Bar is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by J.R. Moehringer.
