Grizzled Tough Guys Kick Mutant Butt In Fangoria’s V.F.W

Want to see a bunch of grizzled genre stars kick mutant butt? You do? That’s good, because genre stalwarts Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Fred Williamson, Martin Kove, David Patrick Kelly and George Wendt are starring in V.F.W, a new horror-actioner from director Joe Begos and writers Max Brallier and Matthew McArdle. The whole thing sounds mouth-wateringly tantalising…
“”Pitched as The Wild Bunch meets Night Of The Living Dead, the story follows Fred and his military buddies as they must defend their local V.F.W. post – and an innocent teen – against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants. These Vietnam vets have been to hell and back, but this will be the longest night of their lives.”
That pitch alone is enough to get Movies In Focus’ attention. I love a good siege movie and I get the feeling that this will deliver in spades. Lang, Sadler, Williamson, Kove, Kelly and Wendt are always good value and they have bodies of work which should play into what Begos and co. are trying to do here. Throw in the fact that V.F.W is being produced by iconic horror imprint Fangoria and you have something that’s definatley worth seeing.
Begos is quoted as saying “I feel like this is the movie I was born to make. Landing a handful of cinema’s iconic genre badasses to form this team of grizzled tough guys is so cool I can hardly believe it’s real.”
Fangoria’s Dallas Sonnier says “Joe Begos makes astoundingly savage, unforgettable horror movies for such little money, so I was motivated to find the perfect vehicle in V.F.W. where we pair him up with remarkable movie stars like Stephen Lang, William Sadler and Fred Williamson, and throw them into Max Brallier and Matthew McArdle’s bonkers screenplay that would make From Dusk Till Dawn blush,”
Just take my money already, why don’t you!
