Get Ready For THE BATMAN In 2018; Ben Affleck To Star-In And Direct Solo Dark Knight Adventure

It was pretty much a given that Warner Bros wanted Ben Affleck to star in and direct a solo Batman adventure. It looks like the studio got its wish.

Latino Review is reporting that Affleck will don the cowl and wield the megaphone on the set of a solo Batman adventure, due to hit screens in November 2018. The Batman will be written by Chris Terrio, writer of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and the two forthcoming Justice League movies. Although don’t be surprised if Oscar-winning screenwriter Affleck has input as well.

That’s great news.

Ben Affleck has all the right elements to make the perfect Batman, while as a director he has shown how to deliver complex, yet crowd-pleasing fare with Argo and The Town. As long as he is given free reign then this has the potential to be a great Batman film – it may even (whisper it) rival Christopher Nolan’s take on Bob Kane’s creation.

Latino Review also has talk of The Justice League assembling at the San Diego Comic Con. The site states that Affleck will be there, joined by Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Godot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Ezra Miller (The Flash). It’s rumoured that two Green Lanterns will also be present – and that Hal Gordon will be played by Chris Pine (despite reports he’ll be the love interest in Wonder Woman). That’s the point where my interest begins to wane, but it looks like Warner and DC are bringing out the big guns to launch the DC Cinematic Universe.

Movies In Focus will bring you more news on The Batman when it breaks.
