Fletch Lives! Jon Hamm To Star In FLETCH Reboot
In recent years Jon Hamm has failed to capitalise on his role as Don Draper in Mad Men. It’s as if Hollywood didn’t know what to do with him. Finally, he might just have the perfect part to play – Fletch.
The character, created by novelist Gregory McDonald previously hit the screen in 1985 and 1989 with the mighty Chevy Chase playing the role. The first film, Fletch was great – the second, Fletch Lives wasn’t.
The new movie from Miramax will be based on the second book in McDonald’s series, Confess Fletch. Superbad director Greg Mottola will direct a script by Zev Borrow.
Here’s the synopsis from Variety:
In a mysterious chain of events, Fletch finds himself in the middle of multiple murders — one of which pins him as a prime suspect. While on a quest to prove his innocence, Fletch is tasked with finding his fiancée’s stolen art collection, acquired after her father goes missing and is presumed dead.
The Fletch books are great and Jon Hamm is a wonderful actor – Movies In Focus is there for this when it opens.
