Dirty Rotten Scoundrel: Donald Glover Cast As Lando Calrissian

Like Natalie Imbruglia, Movies In Focus is torn about a young Han Solo film. I feel it’s an unnecessary Star Wars prequel, but I am very curious to see what directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller do with the film.  Alden Ehrenreich has already been cast as Han Solo – and now Donald Glover has snagged the role of Han’s old buddy, Lando Calrissian.

I have no opinion on this casting – I’ver never seen Glover in action. However, he needs to capture Billy Dee Williams’ intergalactic swagger.

This is what Lord and Miller had to say about Donald Glover’s casting:

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us. These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

Little is known about the Han Solo movie, which opens in 2018.
