Clip From Forthcoming Horror Movie Remix MIMESIS: NOSFERATU

Movies In Focus really enjoyed director Douglas Schulze’s Mimesis: Nosferatu when I caught it back in 2018.

It’s a sequel to 2011’s Mimesis: Night Of The Living Dead, a low budget horror which took George Romero’s Night Of The living Dead and remixed it. The plot to that film saw a group of demented horror fans using the plot of Romero’s classic to murder unsuspecting victims. It was a meta-take on the horror genre which used Romero’s film because it was in the public domain. For the follow-up Schulze decided to tackle the daddy of all horror films – F.W. Murnau’s masterful  Nosferatu.

Mimesis: Nosferatu isn’t a remake of Murnau’s 1922 film– it’s is a new beast which blends the high school elements of the teen slasher flick with the iconic expressionist visual stylings of Murnau’s vampire film. The plot sees a Dramatic Arts school mounting a stage performance of Nosferatu, but unbeknownst to them, a group of Count Orlock inspired cult members (led by Lance Henriksen’s ‘Auteur’) have a few bite-sized surprises in store.

Dread Central scored an exclusive clip from Schulze’s film which features Buffy The Vampire Slayer star Kristy Swanson – check-out it out below.

Mimesis: Nosferatu will be available on Digital and DVD on 13 October 2020.
