Behind The Scenes: Richard Stanley Directs Nicolas Cage & Joely Richardson On The Set Of COLOR OUT OF SPACE

Movie-making mavericks Richard Stanley and Nicolas Cage teamed in 2019 for the bonkers H.P. Lovecraft adaptation, Color Out Of Space. In a strange way, its the perfect film to watch considering everything that is going on in the world at the moment with the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film was Stanley’s return to directing after a 27 year hiatus to deliver this H.P. Lovecraft sci-fi/horror. It’s like an Amblin movie on acid or E.T. meets The Thing. Nicolas Cage gets to delve deep into his box of acting tricks, delivering everything on the spectrum from ‘gee-shucks’ family man to full-blown ‘Cage’.

This image shows Stanley giving direction to Cage and co-star Joely Richardson on the set of the 2019 release.

Color Out Of Space. was given a limited theatrical release in cinemas around the globe. In the US, it grossed $765,561 at the box office and it grossed an additional $257,949 in other countries for a $1,023,510 worldwide total.
