UPDATED: What’s Going On With The Trailer For STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS?
J.J Abrams has wrapped shooting on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and now the movie is in the hands of the many special effects bods to get it ready for a December 2015 release date.
Badass Digest’s Devin Faraci has connections deep within the Star Wars 7 production and he has heard that the first trailer for the film will drop over the next few weeks – and he also scored a description of what the trailer might contain:
It’s going to have The Force Theme played on woodwinds, softly, over flashing images of the main leads, each fading to black. There’s no dialogue, just reveals of the characters. And then the music swells up into a full orchestral piece – and we hear a female voice, likely Daisy Ridley’s, saying “Wake up.”
It was believed (via Star Wars 7 News) that the trailer would be attached to The Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies (which is still possible), but there has been speculation from Slash Film ‘that Disney has “bigger plans” for the trailer debut than a simple attachment’.
What does this mean?
Bigger plans could be a mass press event like Disney did with Marvel a few weeks ago when they launched their upcoming slate. If they’re going down that route then it could be a large Star Wars announcement where Lucasfilm divulges details on potential sequels and spin-offs.Whatever the case, we’ll likely find out before Christmas.

It has been confirmed that The Force Awakens teaser trailer (it’s 88 seconds long) will debut in the US on Friday 28 November at 30 cinemas (see below for locations). There’s no word yet on an international roll-out but details can’t be far behind.
