Trailer: Mark Wahlberg & LaKeith Stanfield In Shane Black’s PLAY DIRTY
Very few people working in movies today possess the sheer word dexterity of Shane Black. Black’s work as a screenwriter speaks for itself – Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys (amongst others). They all show a keen sense of dark word play and understanding of dialogue that has inspired a whole slew of screenwriters – but none have been able to match Black’s wit and mastery of plotting.
Black’s first film as director since 2018’s The Predator is now set to hit screens. Play Dirty teams Black with Mark Wahlberg and LaKeith Stanfield to deliver a new screen adaptation of Richard Stark’s Parker series. Stark is the pseudonym of Donald E. Westlake, and the Parker books have previously been made into films starring Lee Marvin, Mel Gibson and Jason Statham.
Play Dirty will be available on Amazon Prime globally on 1 October.
Written by Shane Black, Charles Mondry and Anthony Bagarozzi, Play Dirty is executive produced by Robert Downey Jr. – who starred in Black’s masterful 2005 pic, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
Rosa Salazar, Keegan-Michael Key, Chukwudi Iwuji, Nat Wolff with Thomas Jane and Tony Shalhoub co-star in Play Dirty.
The synopsis:
An expert thief rolls out the biggest heist of his life in Play Dirty, an action-packed thriller from director Shane Black.
