Notebook Reviews: THE TAILOR OF PANAMA
John Boorman – 2001
John Boorman’s The Tailor of Panama is a fantastic black-comedy thriller which is based on the novel John le Carré. They don’t make enough films with this type of energy.
Geoffrey Rush is great at the titular tailor, while Pierce Brosnan excels as the rogue spy. Brosnan has a ball, riffing on his James Bond persona. Things get a bit far-fetched towards the end and Jamie Lee Curtis is a little under-served, but The Tailor of Panama is first-rate stuff.
