Notebook Reviews: THE FRIGHTENERS
Peter Jackson – 1996
Peter Jackson‘s director’s cut of The Frighteners is an enjoyable horror–comedy, but there’s just something missing to make it great.
Michael J. Fox excels in the lead role (as always) and the visual and make-up effects are very strong – as is Danny Elfman’s score.. However, this is a disjointed and rudderless romp with the last act taking-up a bit too much of the running time.
It’s not as great as it could’ve been – but The Frighteners makes for an entertaining late night watch.
