Notebook Reviews: MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME

George Miller and George Ogilvie – 1985

4 out of 5 stars

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome might not be as violent as its predecessors, but it does have a lot of charm. Funny and dangerous in equal measure, this once again delivers great cartoon-style action. The actual Thunderdome sequences are wonderfully staged and choreographed. Mel Gibson is great in the lead of Mad Max and he really seems to be enjoying himself here. Tina Turner is also very good as Aunty Entity.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome is a highly enjoyable and visually impressive piece of dystopian science fiction. We do need another hero.
