Quentin Tarantino is a two time Academy Award winner, writer, director, producer, actor and foot fetishist extraordinaire.
Tarantino changed the face of movie-making forever in the ‘90s, delivering the one-two punch combo of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. These two movies flipped the mainstream scene on its head, ushering in in the independent movement, which had Tarantino in the lead. Suddenly everyone was peppering their dialogue with pop culture references and using old hit on their soundtracks.
He went on to direct Jackie Brown, the Kill Bill films (shot as one but cut in half), Death Proof, Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained (his biggest commercial success and weakest film). That’s not to mention the other films he has written, produced, script doctored and starred in – the stand-out being Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn. We shall forget Four Rooms (which is not as bad as you’ve been led to believe). Hip music, pop culture infused dialogue and quirky characters are the Tarantino way.
There’s cinema before QT and cinema after.
