MAMMA MIA: HERE WE GO AGAIN
Movies In Focus started out a cynic, but grew to appreciate Mamma Mia. Yes it’s silly, but it really does work as a piece of entertainment and the cast fully commit to proceedings. Heck, I’ll even admit to owning the soundtrack – just for Pierce Brosnan’s rendition of S.O.S (I seriously love that shit without any irony – see below).
Therefore I’m pretty chuffed that Universal Pictures has announced that Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again will hit screens on July 20, 2018 – almost ten years to the day after the $609 million grossing original was released. The word is that the original line-up of Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters and Christine Baranski will be back with ‘some new faces’ making an appearance.
The new flick will be written and directed by Ol Parker, writer of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and feature a slew of ABBA tracks not featured in the original, as well as a few fan favourites.
Movies In Focus will keep you posted on this one.
