The 2001 film America’s Sweethearts stars John Cusack and Catherine Zeta-Jones as a former super-star couple who must publicise their latest film following a messy split. Billy Crystal is their long-suffering publicist, who tries to keep the pair apart during the press junket.
One can’t help but draw parallels between the film and the recent news of Robert Pattinson’s split from Kristen Stewart following her alleged affair with her Snow White & The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders.
Pattinson and Stewart now have to go on the road and sell the latest Twilight film, Breaking Dawn: Part Two.
Here’s a portion of America’s Sweethearts synopsis from Wikipedia:
“Lee Phillips (Crystal) is a movie publicist with a major problem with movie stars Gwen Harrison (Zeta-Jones) and Eddie Thomas (Cusack). The once golden Hollywood duo formerly known as “America’s Sweethearts” is now split, due to Gwen’s affair which has caused Eddie to have a nervous breakdown.
Talk about life imitating art.
