Gavin O’Connor To Direct SUICIDE SQUAD 2: Will He Take Ben Affleck With Him?

For a brief moment it looked like Jaume Collet-Serra would direct Suicide Squad 2. However, he decided to ditch the project to direct Dwayne Johnson in Jungle Cruise. But the director’s chair wasn’t vacant for long, as Gavin O’Connor has now signed-on to direct the super-villain flick.

I’m not a big fan of Collet-Serra’s work, but I like O’Connor’s tough hombre vibe. The Accountant with Ben Affleck was great, Warrior was weighty, I enjoyed Jane Got A Gun and I have a lot of respect for Pride and Glory. I think O’Conner is a great choice for this DC Comics adaptation – and he might even bring Ben Affleck’s Batman along for the ride (the duo are also planning an Accountant sequel).

I thought the original Suicide Squad was fun – and I don’t care what you say!
