Benedict Cumberbatch Is Finally Cast As Marvel’s DOCTOR STRANGE
It feels as if this casting news has been around forever (and it very nearly has) but Benedict Cumberbatch has finally been confirmed in the role of Marvel’s Doctor Strange.
Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feig had this to say about Cumberbatch’s casting:
“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity. In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”
The Sherlock star has been in hot demand in recent years, but this is really a coup for both sides. Cumberbacth is likely to score an Oscar nomination for The Imitation Game, so his career is on the up but nabbing a Marvel gig means he gets to keep his profile high. Meanwhile, Marvel can add yet another acclaimed, yet relatively cheap actor to its superhero stable.
This latest entry in the Marvel Universe, Doctor Strange is set to hit screens on 4November 2016.
