The great Sean Connery excelled in 1996’s The Rock. The Michael Bay directed action film riffs on Connery’s James Bond persona and the actor embraces the physicality of the role and the one-liners. Not bad for a man who was 66 years old at the time of the film’s release.
Connery spends most of the movie partnered with Nicolas Cage as they battle Ed Harris and his military mercenaries who are threatening San Francisco with chemical weapons. Bay’s film is one of the great action movies of all-time.

Produced for $75 million, The Rock grossed $134 million at the US box office and $335 million globally on 1996.
