Who You Gonna Call? Surprisingly Great New Trailer For GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE
You have to hand it to Sony Pictures for trying to keep the Ghostbusters franchise alive and kicking. They tried for about 20 years to get the original cast back for Ghostbusters 3 (to no avail) and they made a valiant effort with 2016’s all-female franchise reboot. Sadly, that film fizzled at the box-office under a bloated budget and a lot of unfair negative attitude.
Now it’s time for Jason Reitman (son of the original movie’s director Ivan) to reinvigorate and reboot the franchise along the original timeline with Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
This first trailer really delivers. Sure, they’re leaning heavily on 1980s and Stranger Things nostalgia (the casting of Finn Wolfhard is no coincidence). You really have to hand to to everyone involved – this is how you update a dusty old-franchise and breathe new life into it.
